Who we are

This policy explains what information domainfinder.io collects when you use this site, based in Latvia, and how it's used.

Information we collect

• Account information: your email address and a hashed (never plaintext) password, when you register an account.
• Project data: the project names, keywords, TLD preferences, and candidate domain names you create or generate while using the tool.
• Session data: a single sealed authentication cookie that keeps you logged in. This is strictly necessary for the site to function and is not used for tracking or advertising.
• Project descriptions (Pro plan, AI generation only): if you use the "Brainstorm domain names" feature, the project description and keywords you've entered are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate name suggestions. This only happens when you click that specific button — it is not sent anywhere for the free plan's built-in algorithm.
• Billing information (Pro plan only): if you subscribe to Pro, your email address and payment details are shared with Stripe (including its "Link" checkout product, which acts as merchant of record for the purchase) to process the subscription, calculate tax, and manage billing. We never see or store your card details ourselves — Stripe handles payment data directly.

We do not use analytics or advertising cookies at this time.

How we use it

• To operate your account and keep your projects private to you.
• To send you a password-reset email if you request one, via our email provider (Mailgun). Your email address is shared with Mailgun solely to deliver that email.
• To check domain name availability via public WHOIS/RDAP lookups (no personal data is sent in these checks — only the domain name itself).
• To generate AI-powered name suggestions when you use the Pro plan's "Brainstorm domain names" feature (see "Third parties" below).
• To process your Pro subscription payment and billing, if you subscribe (see "Third parties" below).

Third parties

We use Mailgun to send transactional email. We do not sell or share your personal information with domain registrars, advertisers, or any other third party. Clicking a registrar's "Buy at" link takes you to that registrar's own site, which has its own separate privacy policy — see our affiliate disclosure for details on that relationship.

If you use the Pro plan's AI-powered name generation, your project description and keywords are sent to Anthropic (the maker of Claude, the AI model we use) solely to generate name suggestions. Anthropic does not receive your email address, password, or any billing information — only the project text you're actively generating names from.

If you subscribe to Pro, your billing email and payment details are shared with Stripe, our payment processor, which also acts as merchant of record for the purchase under its "Link" checkout product. Stripe/Link independently sends you receipts, invoices, and subscription-related emails under its own privacy policy, shown to you at checkout — those emails and that processing are outside our control, since Stripe is the seller of record for the subscription itself.

Data retention and deletion

We retain your account and project data for as long as your account exists. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from your account page — this immediately and irreversibly removes your projects, candidate domains, and blocklist along with your account.

Your rights

Because domainfinder.io is based in Latvia, an EU member state, your personal data is processed under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise the access, export, and deletion rights directly and immediately from your account page, or by contacting us below. If you believe your rights haven't been respected, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Latvian Data State Inspectorate (Datu valsts inspekcija) or your own country's supervisory authority. If you're visiting from outside the EU, equivalent local protections (e.g. CCPA in California) may also apply to you; contact us if you have questions about your specific situation.
